It’s playoff time at area golf courses.
But this is an especially big week at Beaver Creek Golf Course, as it’s the final week of the regular season. Thursday night will mark the end of the regular season at BCGC with playoffs due to begin next week.
Last Thursday night at BCGC, P.J.'s earned high-team honors. The team is composed of Tony Lawson, Ron Cooper, Justin Hawley and Bob Bergren. Tom Haas, Justin Hawley and Mike Purkett all shot 29 to share low gross while Tom Kellar was low net with a 27.
Waddell & Reed remains in first place heading into the final week with 202.5 points. Standard Nutrition is second followed by Midtown Car Care and Triangle Communications.
Last Thursday interrupted the start of the Ladies League playoffs at Prairie Farms Golf Course due to rain and hail. The start of the playoffs has been rescheduled for this Thursday night.
The men's league playoffs began last Tuesday at Prairie Farms with the first round. The second round was on Wednesday and the playoffs resume tonight. No results were reported from last week. The final round is scheduled for Wednesday night.
Several area golfers competed in the annual Montana State Senior Amateur last week at Riverside Country Club in Bozeman. Havre's Kerry Ward finished the event with a total score of 285, Havre's Dave Greenwood came in at 279, Havre's Roy Hamilton finished at 296 and Havre's Bob Breum finished at 320. Chester's Conner Jensen finished the event with a total score of 254 and Chester's Pete Woods finished at 268. Havre's Judy Greenwood also participated in the women's event in Bozeman.
Next up on the state golf circuit is the prestigious State Mid-Am this week at Meadowlark Country Club in Great Falls. Golfers must be at least 30 years of age to compete in the Mid-Am. Entries for the event are closed.
The Havre Wrestling Club will hold its annual 4-person scramble on Aug. 27 at Prairie Farms. The event was rained out in May. Entry fee is $75 per player. To sign up, call the pro shop at Prairie Farms or Bruce Normandy at 265-1549 or 265-7865.
