Havre athlete Alec Drew is about compete in one of the most prestigious youth athletic events held each summer in the United States.

 

    Drew, age 14 is slated to compete in the North American Final of the Hershey Track and Field Games in Hershey, Pa on Saturday. Drew will compete in the softball throw.

    The hershey meet is in its 34th of national competition and has provided 9-14 year-old boys and girls the opportunity to learn and develop skills required to participate in basic track and field events.

    Drew has an outstanding list of recent accomplishments, including two firsts and one second-place finish in events he competed in at the 2011 Montana State Hershey Track Meet back in June in Colstrip. He also had three first-place events at the All-Comers Indoor Meet in Bozeman last January as well as three firsts and two second-place finishes at the Montana USATF Meet in June in Butte.

    Drew also won the 2011 Presidential Physical Fitness Award.
