Elva Marilyn (Score) Larson 82, of Havre, died Saturday morning, Feb. 21, 2009, at Northern Montana Hospital of natural causes.
Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 27, at 3:30 p.m., in the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rich Rice officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Havre. Elva was born in Bowdoin, Mont., on Feb. 16, 1927, to Nels and Jenny (Carlson) Score. She attended grade school in Bowdoin. After moving with her family to Malta, she attended and graduated from Malta High School in 1944. Elva also attended one year of college at Northern Montana College here in Havre, something she was proud to have done. Elva was employed as the head bookkeeper at First National Bank in Havre for more than 25 years and retired in 1985. Elva married Lester Larson in 1946 and from that marriage two sons were born, Richard and Alan. They were later divorced. In 1952 Elva married Ed W. Larson in Malta with whom she had their daughter, Judy. Elva and Ed enjoyed 37 years together. She was a member and past president of the Havre Business and Professional Women’s Club and also a member of Van Orsdel United Methodist Church. Elva enjoyed camping and fishing with her family. She loved playing bingo and pinochle at the Senior Center and the Care Center. She had a special place in her heart for the kitties she took in during her lifetime. She also loved being around her grandkids and great-grandkids. Elva was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, in 1989; her parents; and her brother, Don Score. She is survived by her children, Rick (Sharon) Larson, of Havre, Alan Larson of San Diego, and Judy (Millard) Ireland, of Havre. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and her brother Pete (Clarabel) Score of Malta. Memorials in Elva’s name may be sent to Kitty Keepers of Havre or the Havre Senior Center. Arrangements are entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
