Virginia Ann McDaniel, 78, died the evening of Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, evening at the Northern Montana Hospital from natural causes.
Cremation has taken place and her memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at the First Baptist Church with Pastor John Chapman officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the V.F.W. immediately after the graveside services. Box 1231 Havre, MT 59501. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Virginia was born Oct. 15, 1929, in Livingston to Thomas and Mable (Dinsmore) Lee. She was raised and educated in Havre, graduating from Havre High School. After attending college in Bozeman, she returned to Havre and was a member of the first graduating class of licensed practical nurses from the Sacred Heart Hospital. Virginia married Clarence C. McDaniel on Nov. 17, 1949, in Havre. Together they made their home in Havre and raised their family. Virginia worked at the Highland Park Nursing Home, The Sacred Heart Hospital and the Deaconess Hospital. She later worked as a private nurse in people’s homes. Virginia enjoyed camping with her family and friends at Beaver Creek Park, fishing and knitting. She and Clarence enjoyed traveling the state camping and fishing. She enjoyed a good game of cards and visiting with her close friends. Her greatest love was for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a mother and grandmother to many and when her grandchildren were sick they always came to grandma’s. She served as a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader when her children were younger. Virginia was a member of the Van Orsdel United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Later in years, she went to First Baptist Church with her daughter and they found comfort and support with her new church family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Clarence “Chuck” McDaniel, in 2002. Virginia is survived by her daughter, Myrna (Chris) Christopherson of Saint Marys, Ga.; son, Tom (Susan) McDaniel of Havre; six grandchildren: Scott (Emmy) Ceynar of Great Falls; Brandell (Will) Rathbun of Havre; Chris McMullen of Missoula; Thora Christopherson Dodson of Saint Marys; Tisha Christopherson of Saint Marys, and Casey (Dan) Parisian of Havre; 10 great-grandchildren, and her very special friends for many years Alice “Apple” Brown, Cecila Ratliff, Carol Filler and many others.
