One week, oppressive heat is beating down on the Hi-Line and the next rain is soaking everything in sight. That is life if you want to golf in North Central Montana.

But weather didn't stop local golf league's from getting in another week of action at Beaver Creek Golf Course in Havre and the Chinook Golf Club in Chinook.

On Tuesday night at BCGC, the teams of Goodian and BCGC tied for high team, each grabbing 23.5 points. Goodian is composed of Mike Grubb, Tyler Kapperud, Aaron Goodian and John Brown. BCGC is made up of Ron Surber, Bill Schilling, Kent McCormick and Paul Teel. Dan Kiederowski and Greg Baltrusch, who both play for Wagner Plumbing, earned low-gross honors by firing even-par rounds of 36. Baltrusch was also low net with a 24.

Wednesday night saw Independence Bank score 23.5 points to take home high-team honors. Jeff Jensen lit up BCGC by shooting a 2-under par 34 for low gross, and Gene Harda earned low-net honors with a 25.

The tournament season is also getting into high gear. BCGC will hold the annual Crimestoppers tournament on June 10. The tournament is a two-person best ball format and teams can sign up in the pro shop. There is also a local qualifier for the Junior World Golf Championships which will be held at Whitefish Lakes Golf Club on June 12. The tournament will be 18 holes with the low boy and girl qualifying for the Junior World in San Diego, Calif. Boys and girls ages 15-17 are eligible. For more information, call 862-0426.
