McLean's Grocery has been a Havre institution, operated by three generations of the same family, since 1945.
The convenience store, located at the corner of Second Street and Fifth Avenue, sells food items, candy, chips, magazines, beer, cigarettes, cigars and hard ice cream.
McLean's also sells lottery tickets, and last summer the store sold a winning $50,000 ticket.
Margie Morse, whose grandparents, Emma and Duncan, opened the first McLean's where the Atrium Mall parking lot is now, said some of the store's loyal customers have been visiting the grocery all her life.
“That's just a neat thing,” said Morse, who owns the store with her husband, Rodger. “We see the same people.”
She said she wanted to thank the
loyal
Havreites who have been patronizing the store for so many years.
Morse said the store moved to its current location, an old Texaco/Firestone shop, during the 1950s.
Her parents, Al and Marge, took over for her grandparents.
Margie and Rodger began running the store in 1989.
