A heatwave rolled through Havre and the Hi-Line last week, and with it came sizzling golf scores and more milestones for one Havre golfing guru.

On May 15 in Whitefish at the Whitefish Lakes South Course, Havre native Steve Johnstone recorded his sixth hole in one of his golfing career. Johnstone used a nine iron on the Par 3 16th hole of the South Course and the ace measured 136 yards. The shot was witnessed by Art Havens and Sharon Foulks.

Meanwhile, a day later in Havre, Johnstone fired a 37 to take home low-gross honors in Tuesday night men's golf league action at Beaver Creek Golf Course. Low net went to Brad Rhukamp with a 28, and Hi-Way Bar earned high-team honors with 25 points. Hi-Way Bar is composed of Craig Patrick, dennis Kannberg, Richard Hansen and Don Miller.

On Wednesday night at BCGC, Havre Ford scored 21.5 points to take home high team. Havre Ford is composed of Brett Gilman, Jason Wirt, Dave Boles and Matt Wertheimer. Jim Kato lit up the golf course to shoot a five-under par 31 which easily earned low-gross honors, and Brett Preeshl took home low net with a 27.5.

On Thursday night, in ladies league action, Stockman Bank and 15 West shared high-team honors, each scoring 21.5 points. Stockman Bank is composed of Anna Toner, Becky Wimmer, Melanie Fee and Shauna Albrecht, while 15 West is made up of Carrie Kato, Maxine Munson, Liz McIntosh and Delonna Malone. Kato earned low-gross honors with a stellar 41, and Carolyn Patrick took home low-net honors with a 27.5.

Men's league is also under way in Chinook and on Wednesday night, Todd DePriest earned the most points with nine. Matt Finely took home closest to the pin and Scott Gunderson won the long drive for the night. Ed Schmidt also earned long putt.
