Northern graduates 389 students

A total of 426 degrees will be split among 389 graduating students during Montana State University-Northern commencement exercises Saturday at 10 a.m. in the campus gym.

Northern got its Founders' Week activities under way Saturday with the Bear Paw Run in Beaver Creek Park. Among other functions during the weeklong celebration was the Northern Lights Wrestling Banquet on Sunday. The school's Founders' Excellence Award Dinner is set for this evening. Being honored for their contributions to the university are Bob Bachini, Jim Hall and Kirk Miller.

A highlight of graduation will be the 70th anniversary of the class of 1936 and the golden anniversary of the class of 1956. Representing the class of '36 will be Lauretta Safford Kraus and Arris Jones Wold. Members of the returning class of '56 will be Shirley Levengood Bachini, Sara Lee King Baird, Joyce Rounds Corbett, Carol Bullock Curry, M. Jean Kelly Kvande, Charles R. Lewellen, Carmen Eblen McIlhattan, Karol Koehler Newgard, Darrell D. Tucker and William Hutson Waugh.
