David Foster of Big Timber scored 24 points to lead the Class B All-Stars to a 105-98 win over Class AA in Saturday night's boys championship of the Hi-Line Invitational Tournament in Malta.
Foster was one of six class B players in double figures. John Galt of Malta scored 17 points and Jeff Larson of Cut Bank added 16, while Jesse Barnes of Choteau and Nate Barstad of Glasgow each chipped in with 14. Former KG standout and current Whitehall coach Randy Robinson coached the B squad.
Jack McGillis of Missoula Hellgate led the AA with 27 points. James Bullock of Billings Skyview added 20 in the losing effort. The Class AA was previously unbeaten in the tournament.
On the girls side, CMR's Kelsey Hopkins scored 25 points and Bozeman's Brittney Lohman added 19 as Class AA edged the Class A team 98-94 in the girls championship. It was the second close game between the two squads. On Thursday, Class AA defeated Class A by two points.
Also reaching double figures for Class AA were Bozeman's Jeni Guertin with 13, CMR's Shantell Marquis with 12 and Great Falls High's Sam Schermele with 11.
The Class A team, which was coached by Havre's Jason Wirt, was led by Lewistown senior Alira Carpenter's 24 points. Talented freshman Ali Hurley of Anaconda added 20 ponits, while Tana Stuart of Hardin added 16.
In the consolation games, the Class B girls knocked off Class C 79-66 behind Amy DeGroot of Missoula Loyola and Kali Buck of Choteau, who combined for 33 points. Class C got 12 points from Jaymne Larson of Opheim and 10 from Kezia Fort of Augusta.
In the boys consolation, the Class A boys dominated the Class C in a 116-87 win. Jayce Sullivan of Sidney scored a team-high 24 points to lead a group of six players in double figures. Havre's Marc Mariani added 14 poitnsss in the win. Class C was paced by Wes Spotted Bear of Plenty Coups with 22 points.
Lohman was named the girls most valuable player, while Foster was named the boys MVP.
