The Chinook tennis team edged the Havre High junior varsity 11-10 in dual action on Tuesday afternoon at the HHS tennis courts.
Monica Thackeray led the way for Chinook, scoring two impressive 8-1 wins over Havre's Christen Kittelson and Molly Proctor. Thackeray also teamed with Georgia Barber to defeat Kittelson and Jocelyn Chagnon 8-4 in doubles action.
Also picking up singles wins were Barber, Gen Burkhartsmeyer, Rebecca Blankenship, Abbi Hayes and Morgan Obie.
Havre got two singles wins each from Samantha Boucher and Hailey McLain. Jocelyn Chagnon and Alexa Lipp added singles wins.
In the doubles, Havre No. 2 varsity team of Kari Gorder and Kristin Hollingshead won a tough 8-7 match over Burkhartsmeyer and Obie. The duo also defeated Hayes and Abby Johnson 8-2. Havre's other doubles wins came from Chagnon and Lipp, who beat Staci Butcher and Darcie Mohar, 8-4, and from Proctor and Angie Maxwell, who beat Johnson and Merylee Ramberg, 8-3.
Chinook got doubles wins from the teams of Sara Harshman and Patricia Hellman, Marinda Qualls and Amanda Oehmcke, and Butcher and Ramberg.
Chinook will host its own invitational tournament on Saturday.
