The Class B all-star squad, led by tournament MVP Lindsay Stookey, finished with a perfect 2-0 record to capture the Class ABC all-star volleyball tournament on Saturday at the MSU-Northern gymnasium.
Stookey, the setter for two-time defending state champ Huntley Project, dished out 80 assists and served up eight aces in Class B's two wins.
In the opening game of the tournament, Class B had little trouble with the Class C all-stars in a 30-18, 30-12, 30-19.
Huntley Project's Jessica Lechner led Class B with nine kills and two blocks, while Stookey had 30 assists and six aces. Class C was led by Carly Raska of Belt, who picked up 10 kills. Grass Range's Char Fleharty added 25 assists and three aces for Class C.
In the second match of the tournament, Class A also dispatched Class C in three games, 30-12, 30-27, 30-19.
Sidney's Jen Sunwall and Libby's Nicole Rowan had 12 kills each to lead Class A. Libby's Erin Bothman had 43 assists, while Rowan added four aces.
Class C got eight kills from Raska and 22 assists and two aces from Fleharty in the loss.
In the final game of the tournament, which would also be the championship, Class B needed four games to defeat Class A, 30-32, 30-21, 30-20, 30-28.
Manhattan's Stephanie Loessberg paced Class B with 14 kills, while Stookey had another solid match with 50 assists and three aces. Huntley teammate Jessica Eliasson added nine blocks in the win.
Class A got 10 kills from Billings Central's Cindy Eakin and 40 assists from Bothman in the loss. Central's Lindsay Conroy added six aces and Rowan had four blocks for Class A.
