Eight years ago, a young student-athlete named Evan Hinebauch walked into the halls of Havre High School for the first time. While Hinebauch was already known as a standout wrestler and a potentially very good football player, on that first day of school, no one could have predicted the legacy that was to come.

Local Bowling Report: Men's City Tournament beginning this month

The Men’s City Tournament is scheduled for the week of Feb. 15 with team event starting at 7 p.m. Singles and Doubles will be bowled on the weekend, Feb. 18 and 19 with extra team shifts available. Starting times are at 12 p.m. on each day. More information is available by calling the lanes.

The action started back on Tuesday when the Chester/J-I Hawks went to Rudyard and took care of the North Star Knights, 54-19. The Hawks’ defense absolutely shut down the Knights, holding them to just 10 points in the first half and nine in the second.

In Class C action, the 9C North Star Knights defeated the 10 C Chester/J-I Hawks 53-52 on Tuesday in overtime action in Chester.
Lights slip to No. 13

Northern was ranked No. 10 last week and is now tied at No. 13. The Lights received the same amount of votes as Texas Wesleyan in the new poll. Northern is currently 20-4 on the season and alone atop the Frontier Conference standings at 6-2.
Missoula beats Ice Hawks twice

The Ice Hawks have had a tough season so far this year, and continued to struggle against Missoula. The Ice Hawks lost 5-2 in the first of two games. The Ice Hawk goals were scored by Timmy Welch and Ethan Hettinger.

Havre High girls sweep Eagles, Coyotes

The Central A Ponies were at home and on the road over the weekend. On Friday the Ponies were on the road for a tough conference game. The Ponies won 47-43 in Lewistown. On Saturday the Ponies returned home for senior night against the nonconference Shelby Coyotes, and this time won 55-33. With the two wins the Ponies improved to 11-6 overall and 6-1 in the conference.
Central A Champions yet again

Saturday the Ponies competed in the Central A Divisional meet in Belgrade. And showing the Ponies are still a top team in the state, HHS grabbed the Central A championship with 276.50 points. Belgrade finished second with 210, while Lewistown was third with 128.5. Browning was fourth with 41 and Livingston was fifth with five points.
